Melrose kicks off GKN break-up with £1.9 billion sale of powder metallurgy division. Melrose Industries (MRO) is courting bidders in a multi-billion sale of the best-performing part of GKN, the  historic engineer the turnaround company acquired less than six months ago in a hostile ­ takeover.

Tetley bears the brunt as Tesco cuts the big brands to promote its own-label produce. Tesco (TSCO) has cleared its shelves of Tetley tea ranges as it ploughs ahead with promoting its own-label produce and trendier brands. Tetley, which traces its roots back to 1822 in  Huddersfield and is owned by Indian group Tata, has seen around 16 lines axed from Tesco’s  shelves.
