An internal report by HBOS-owner Lloyds Banking Group (LLOY) that was leaked earlier this year claimed HBOS directors, including then chief executive Andy Hornby, knew his staff were ruining small businesses for their own personal gain. MIDAS SHARE TIPS: Anglo Asian Mining (AAZ) Mining has been through the wars, but the future is starting to look a lot brighter. Midas verdict: Anglo Asian is increasing production, cutting costs and it has money in the bank. Directors own more than 40 per cent of the shares so they are clearly incentivised to make the business work and expected news of a maiden dividend is a sign of confidence. The gold price has also been rising, amid growing fears about the impact of trade wars on economic growth. Anglo Asian has disappointed in the past but, at 45p, the shares could provide substantial gains.
MIDAS SHARE TIPS UPDATE: The City Pub Group (CPC) toasts share price success. Midas verdict: City Pub Group has come a long way fast but the best is yet to come. When the firm floated, it had 33 pubs and hoped to double in size by 2021. Now the group is set to reach that target earlier. Brokers believe it can reach 100 pubs in the next few years, as customers respond to the renovated bars, trendy drinks and decent service.
Existing investors should hold, while new ones could also swallow a few shares.
