Rolls-Royce director and former Shell executive tipped to take over as chairman at defence and engineering giant Babcock International Group (BAB). Babcock’s chairman Mike Turner is due to leave after its annual shareholder meeting in July. The firm’s stock price has suffered in the wake of the collapse of Government outsourcer Carillion last year. Ruth Cairnie, 65, has been a non-executive director at Rolls-Royce since 2014 and spent almost a decade at Royal Dutch Shell. She would likely have to leave her position at Rolls-Royce if she moves to the defence contractor. Babcock declined to comment.
