Spotlight is a new podcast series from Vox Markets that sheds light on sectors, trends, and innovations that the market has largely overlooked. Spotlight connects with change-makers to examine how fresh ideas and unexpected approaches are working to create real investment opportunities.

For our second episode, we looked at a new generation of entrepreneurs focused on redefining women’s health-- the rise of the FemTech sector. Market analysts Frost & Sullivan have forecast that the femtech sector will be worth $50 billion by 2025, spurred on by the almost $1 billion it has already received in funding over the last three years.

The women’s health industry, particularly in regards to technology, hadn’t seen innovation in decades. Today, the female leaders we spoke with, from the Chief Science Officer of the world’s most downloaded health app to the CEO of a company that could help the NHS save over £200 million a year, are seizing that lack in innovation as an opportunity to be first-movers in their field.

They are, as one of our guests put it, ‘designing with empathy’ in this multi-million pound industry. These female pioneers are reaping the rewards of a new revolution and it is clear there is no where to go but up.

We would like to extend a huge thank you to our wonderful guests: Tania Boler, CEO and Founder of Elvie; Bethany Edwards, Co-Founder and CEO of Lia Diagnostics; Monica Saini, Chief Medical Officer at Volpara Solutions; Anna Klepchukova, Chief Science Officer at FloHealth.
