() , a provider of NHS-funded medical procedures, updated markets on trading for the six months to 30 September 2023, citing a 12% revenue increase as increasing numbers of patients choose One Health through Patient Choice.

Revenue for the first six months exceeded £11 million, up from £9.8m in the previous period. New patient referrals rose 12%, sourced from Patient Choice through NHS e-Referrals (e-RS), NHS Trust waiting list transfers and direct referrals from NHS Trusts.

One Health also welcomed 15 new clinicians, a 19% increase, to strengthen its presence in existing and emerging geographical regions. The company has expanded surgical theatre capacity at current locations and secured additional capacity at a North Yorkshire facility. Cash stood at £3.6 million at the mid-year point.

One Health's continued collaboration with NHS Trusts has resulted in two new contracts aimed at reducing waiting lists and streamlining direct referrals. Additionally, plans are in motion to submit a full planning application early in H2 for a new surgical hub, promising enhanced operational capacity by 2025.

Adam Binns, Chief Executive Officer, said: "One Health Group has performed well in the first six months of the financial year, ahead of last year with increasing numbers of patients choosing One Health through Patient Choice. In addition, we have started supporting two more Trusts (Barnsley Teaching Hospitals & Derby & Burton NHS Foundation Trust) with their internal patient waiting lists, further reducing the pressure on the NHS waiting list. Also, growing numbers of surgeons are applying to work with us, having seen the benefits that the Group provides to the wider community.”

One Health works with over 100 NHS Consultants who sub-specialise in the various surgeries offered by the company, through a growing network of community-based outreach clinics and surgical operating locations. One Health underwent a successful IPO in November 2022, and, now equipped with greater capacity and resources, is poised to assist the NHS in tackling elective surgery waiting lists.

From April 2016 onwards, there has been a consistent trend of more patients entering the referral-to-treatment waiting list than those being discharged,  in every month except one. As a result, the elective waiting list has reached its highest point since 2008, currently exceeding seven million. Factors contributing to this include the impact of Covid-19, workforce shortages in the NHS, together with an ageing population.

With high demand for elective surgeries, One Health is well-aligned to help relieve the burden on the NHS, with its waiting times from consultation to treatment being 3-7 weeks on average (the current NHS standard is 18 weeks). One Health should continue to see increased demand for its services as the NHS tackles the lingering effects of the pandemic on waiting lists.
