Ocean Harvest Technology shares soar on positive feed trial results
( ) , a producer of animal feed supplements from seaweed blends, announced results from four recently completed feed trials. Three of the trials were carried out by universities in conjunction with potential customers, while a swine trial was undertaken directly by a potential customer. All trials involved Ocean Harvest's OceanFeed line of products, including OceanFeed Poultry, OceanFeed Aqua, and OceanFeed Swine.
A laying hen trial confirmed improvements in both egg production and feed efficiency when birds were fed an OceanFeed Poultry supplemented diet. These performance improvements "materially increased income per hen", Ocean Harvest reported.
OceanFeed Aqua was tested on catfish and juvenile shrimp in two separate trials. It resulted in higher feed intake and weight gain in catfish, leading to a substantial increase in final weight. In juvenile shrimp, it improved both weight gain and feed efficiency, reducing production costs. OceanFeed Aqua also helped reduce mortality in a disease challenge trial run in parallel.
The commercial swine trial reported "material improvements" in feed efficiency in piglets with OceanFeed Swine included in their diet. The company said OceanFeed Swine successfully replaced a combination of 7 conventional gut health additives.
Overall, the results represent further confirmation of Ocean Harvest's already substantial dataset demonstrating the efficacy of its OceanFeed products in improving animal performance across a range of species. More positive data means more customers and more revenue growth for the young company that raised £6m in its AIM listing in April. Markets reacted strongly to the news, pushing
shares 19% higher in early trading.Mark Williams, CEO, commented: "We are delighted that these trials have again demonstrated the benefits of Ocean Harvest's OceanFeed™ products. Our proprietary seaweed blends are delivering strong results in animal performance and production economics in a cost-effective and environmentally sustainable manner. OHT will continue to invest in developing our product portfolio, and we are confident that the significant benefits of our products will support future customer growth."
