Ocado and Bon Preu to build automated warehouse in Catalonia
Online grocery fulfilment group has announced plans to build a new distribution facility in Catalonia as part of its partnership with Spanish supermarket chain Bon Preu.
"Today is an exciting moment as we enter a new phase with our longest-standing international partner," said Gregor Ulitzka, president for Europe at Ocado Solutions.
A new customer fulfilment centre (CFC) will be constructed in Parets del Vallès to serve Bon Preu customers across Catalonia.
The expansion follows a period of rapid growth at Bon Preu, Ocado's first international partner following a deal to build its online proposition back in 2017.
The new automated CFC will deliver significant cost efficiencies for Bon Preu, while giving customers a broader range and greater freshness, Ocado said.

They have already developed a market-leading online proposition in Catalonia with Ocado's In-Store Fulfilment technology and will now benefit from a highly automated CFC, offering an enhanced customer proposition and a significantly lower cost-to-serve."
