Metals One showcases latest drilling results from Råna nickel project
Metals One (
) has released the results of the recent round of drilling at the Råna nickel, copper and cobalt project in Norway, which is being operated by the company’s partner Kingsrose.A total of 706 metres was drilled across three holes at the Rånbogen prospect, on Råna.
The drilling tested a previously undrilled zone of outcropping massive sulphide located 600 metres northwest of the massive sulphide zone intercepted at Rånbogen in 2023, which returned 26.2 metres at 0.7% nickel, 0.2% copper, and 0.06% cobalt.
In the 2024 campaign two holes intercepted broad intervals of disseminated to net-textured sulphide mineralisation, demonstrating the presence of high nickel tenors, returning a maximum grade of 1.6% nickel, 0.2% copper, 0.15% cobalt across 0.64 metres.
Other highlights included 13.8 metres at an average grade of 0.4% nickel, 0.1% copper, 0.04% cobalt from 143 metres, and two intercepts in one hole grading of 0.3% nickel, 0.1% copper and 0.02% cobalt over 15.7 metres and 0.5% nickel, 0.1% copper and 0.06% cobalt over 15.8 metres.
Thus far, exploration has demonstrated that nickel-copper-cobalt sulphide mineralising processes have occurred in multiple 'stacked' zones throughout the 10 kilometre diameter Råna intrusion, indicating a large search-space for future discovery.
"It's great to report that Kingsrose has identified yet another new zone of nickel-copper mineralisation at the Råna project associated with an extensive conductive geophysical anomaly,” said Jonathan Owen, chief executive of Metals One.
“The 2024 work programme has further demonstrated the prospectivity and scalability of the Råna project, and we look forward to discussing with our partner the most appropriate next steps for the project, which still remains largely underexplored."
Råna is currently 39% owned by Metals One.

Lest anyone forget, Kingsrose is a well-established and experienced Australian company with a decent track record of exploration under its belt and plenty of will to succeed. The Kingsrose presence at Råna has been crucial to driving this project forward and delivering results for Metals One, while Metals One itself cracks on with work on its other Scandinavian assets. Thus far, Råna looks highly attractive, and a prime candidate for further spend and development. The ball is in Kingsrose’s court, and the extensive mineralisation and the grades suggest it won’t sit still for long.
