Metals One (MET1Follow | MET1has identified high-grade nickel-copper-cobalt mineralisation in re-assays of two intersections of its Black Schist project in Finland.

Historical diamond core drillholes from the Black Schist Paltamo P1 target were re-tested and returned nine metres at 0.20% nickel, 0.08% copper, 0.01% cobalt, and 0.007% zinc, and 19.5 metres at 0.22% nickel, 0.10% copper, 0.017% cobalt and 0.36% zinc.

The current resource at Black Schist, established over the R1 and P5 areas, stands at 57.1 million tonnes.

The historical drillholes at P1 were drilled by the Geological Survey of Finland (GTK).

“We're pleased to have identified high-grade intersections in the re-assayed historical GTK cores at P1,” said Jonathan Owen, chief executive of Metals One.

“These results underline the quality of our project pipeline as we aim to fulfil our overarching goal of defining a 200 million tonne strategic metals resource which could underpin a long-term producing asset.”

P1 is a key target for Metals One and, whilst the core focus remains on delivering a preliminary economic assessment for the existing defined resource at Black Schist on R1 and P5, this new confirmation of significant mineralisation gives plenty of grounds for encouragement as regards the broader area. The company will now investigate whether to undertake a drill programme over the potential resource area informed by these re-assay results.
